I work slightly differently to other coaches. If you’re an HR or L&D person who’s simply interested in my approach, or a prospective client who wants to gauge whether we’re on the same page, this page is for you.
I also work differently to many other ‘trainers’: my group-work is based on a different foundation and is driven by very different motivations to what I’ve encountered elsewhere. So if you’re looking for a group workshop or session, and want to get a feel for my style, this page is for you too.
Rather than bore you with an essay I’ve summarised “what I do”, “what I don’t do” and “what I think” into a visual gallery of bite-sized postulations for you to explore. Think of them as ‘mental mints’ - I hope you find them refreshing.
I share what I know about psychology, so that people can not only change the way they do things but do so with the confidence of knowing that it will work.
Mutual respect is incredibly important to me. I work with who’s in front of me, what they tell me & what they’re feeling that day.
The complexity of human language is widely underestimated. I help people notice what’s previously gone unseen.
Brutal honesty is not assertive, it’s rude. I help people to express themselves with impact, without losing sight of empathy & kindness.
I help people to be confident in expressing what they want when they want it, and what they feel when they feel it.
I don’t use psychometric tests. I help you discover your ‘style’ by exploring the effect you have on those in the room.
Expressing how you feel doesn’t oblige others to accommodate your feelings. I encourage people to live with different perspectives.
Don’t just talk about it. Do it!
I want to know what makes your project unique. I get a buzz designing programmes that are just right for my clients.
From my observations poor team conversation comes from people shouting to be heard. It's more listening on every side that leads to more understanding.
I provide the feedback people haven’t heard before. And I get groups giving the feedback they haven’t shared before.
Traditional training is boring and ineffective. I coach groups instead.
